The race must go on...

One of the ‘must-do’ things in London is to see and experience the Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race. It’s an annual event that has been taking place every year since 1849 and sees many Londoners take to the Thames river banks to watch the boats pass by.

Despite being overcast, rainy and grey (which is London), myself and a group of friends (along with hundreds of other spectators) embraced the day, took some drinks and parked off on the side of the river in Hammersmith. The race starts at Putney and continues to Mortlake. There is only the one race which passes within seconds (so there really isn’t that much to see), but the atmosphere is electric, the mood is vibey and there is much excitement all around. There are food stalls and beer tents set up in the parks and along the river. It’s really fun and I’m glad I experienced it.
