Hard Rock Calling

Working in the MICE industry we very often get invited to cocktail parties, networking events and hotel show arounds.

Sometimes they’re personal where only our team is invited and we get to enjoy a nice meal and tour of the venue or hotel. Other times they’re events where suppliers (hotels, venues or DMC’s) host parties or networking opportunities for clients (ie. agencies like ourselves who organise events) to mingle, network, meet people in the industry, learn and essentially build relationships in the hopes that business opportunities come in the future.

They’re really nice evenings and often allow us as a team to enjoy a nice night out in a more informal environment than the work place.

On Tuesday I attended the Global Connect networking event at Hard Rock Café. This was slightly different to the average networking event being that it took place in a busy, noisy (and very touristy!) restaurant. Nonetheless, it was a huge success.

The evening began with cocktails downstairs and the chance to meet the various suppliers. That was followed by dinner upstairs where we sat at tables of 4 – 2 buyers and 2 suppliers per table. The suppliers swopped tables between every course, giving all of us the opportunity to meet them all and get to know their products.

Following the AMAZING BBQ ribs, the Toffee Nut Sundae and many conversations, we went next door to check out The Vault in the Hard Rock Café Rock Shop where the most valuable pieces of memorabilia of the Hard Rock’s collection.

Then finally, to conclude the evening we enjoyed one last drink together, the hosts said their thank you’s and a prize draw took place. Our business cards are pulled out of a hat and the prizes include gifts sponsored by the suppliers of the evening (most often these prizes are two nights accommodation at the suppliers hotel). Being that there were approximately 10 suppliers, there were 10 lucky winners and I was the lucky winner of a voucher for two nights accommodation at the Barcelona Princess. Woo hoo! Another holiday to look forward to (but I do have to save for the flights).
